Abstract

The issue of residence for the senior population to suit the physical characteristics of the population is an immense problem that has several levels. With the rise of life expectancy, the aging of the population and its relation with dwelling it becomes a very real question.
The theme “Inhabit and Aging in the XXI century” leads to the analysis of this problematic, showing thus different ways to approach the matter and by consequence, revealing several solutions in what concerns residence to the elderly. One verifies the need to equate new ways to occupy the city and residence, providing and establishing the balance between the needs of this age group with good Architecture examples.
The subthemes “Memories and Environments” are two concepts that are interconnected between themselves and Architecture, having an essential role in the construction of a people. These define the reality of a changing society, through its Architecture and the answers to the needs of this evolving population.
Architecture is thus formed by several formal and functional choices, bearing in mind the place and unique characteristics of the space in which one intends to intervene, without losing its identification.
The development of this project has as base concept the memory of the place and its preservation both in the relation of the proposed elements as in the relation of the urban scale and of the building.
