Abstract

This work explored a subject out today. It is aimed at elderly housing, addressing the issue not only housing but also in terms of urban life in community. In keeping with this approach as the basis for all the work, also explores the current reality on the types and uses of public spaces, more precisely the spaces of sociability associated with the issue of neighborhood relations. The structure consists of a theoretical background on the current trend of aging in Portugal and major concerns to consider about the kind of city proper to the elderly. After explored the issue of public spaces, social spaces of conviviality and the issue of neighborhood relations in the city. As the project developed, proposed in the city of Viseu, the exhibition takes place of the current situation of the site, survey and analysis, the initial approach of the proposal and its development from the urban scale inside the housing. It also made a study of the bairro de Alvalade, urban project as reference. The proposed project is based on the theme presented, basing itself on the basis of theoretical research that was performed.
