The objective of the present dissertation is to depict the impact of the age diversity climate of a team on its effectiveness. In addition, the role of Adaptability as a mediator of this relationship is also scrutinized. In parallel, the impact of Leadership on the age diversity climate of a team is also portrayed. The data statistically analysed on this thesis was collected under the form of teams, from three different types of organizations: a company that operates in the consumer goods and services industry, a sports institution and the Portuguese Navy. The results show that the age diversity climate is not a direct predictor of a better team effectiveness. However, the age diversity climate of a team leads to a better adaptability, which in turn leads to a better team effectiveness. Adaptability is then a mediator of the effect between these two variables. Moreover, the effects of Leadership as whole, Leadership Action phase functions and Leadership Support Social Climate functions, were found to be statistically non-significant regarding their impact on the age diversity climate of a team. Finally, regarding the effect of Leadership Transition phase functions, it was concluded that this variable is a predictor of the age diversity climate of a team.
