Abstract

With this work we intend to make a list of the narratologic cathegories that are part of the fiction book Histórias da Terra e do Mar, analising the way they are organised on the Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen’s short stories, especially those we have been working with for several years of teaching and that are included on the same book. Because of the symbolical and allegoric richness of some words that are part of these short stories, as they are repeated in several stories, we will also try to reveal the symbology of some words we consider more important and around which are developed the stories created by the author. On the last chapter, through an attentive observation, along with a critical analysis, either personal or from consecrated authors, we will look at the present social reality, mainly at the context in which the young teenagers are, the focus of our study. We also intend to think about the formative, pedagogical and didactic virtualities of general literature and the author’s stories in particular, because we consider the messages within her writing could be used as a means for teaching values, for passing on moral and ethical teachings, and at the same time educate.
