Abstract
The present thesis aims to answer the question of whether independent moviemakers can survive in the digital age. Having been faced with digitalization and the transformation of itscore practices, the film industry was obliged to rethink its existing business models. This research demonstrates the threats (worsening financial situation of art-house cinemas, overwhelming expansion of choice), as well as opportunities (widening of distribution opportunities, cheaper marketing of indie content, diversifying cinematic offer). The findings of my research show that it is indeed possible for the independents to survive by combining the advantages that come from both online and offline sphere.
