Abstract

The present work intends to give visibility to the competences developed and acquired, as well as to the reflections that these new learning have aroused, in the context of the Master Degree in Nursing in the area of Medical-Surgical Specialization of the Portuguese Catholic University, at the Institute of Health Sciences, in its practical component: the internship. This report aims to describe the analysis and reflection carried out during my course in the different constituent internships: the internship - module II (Intensive Care), the internship - module I (Urgency), and the optional internship module (Chronic Pain Consultation). Transversal to all these stages arises the theme of Humanization of Nursing Care. For some, it may be a pleonasm because they consider that, with the word care associated with nursing, it already implies humanized care. For others, and as the bibliography indicates, the external pressures are many, and we are increasingly forgetting to be humanizing nurses in the care we provide. In the different internships I approached this subject under different prisms, which I considered to be the most priority. In the Intensive Care Unit the management of information to the user and family and the family involvement in the therapeutic plan of their family member, in a multidisciplinary team. In the Emergency Service stage, the awareness of the nursing team to practice humanized care in the different departments (screening room, treatment room and observation room) - identification of the professional, respect for autonomy, active listening, among others; And in the Chronic Pain Unit of Hospital Beatriz Ângelo with the management of information on one of the techniques used: anesthetic blockade. At all stages, my stance was the same: humanizing care, which I believe can make a difference. Writing this report required a lot from me. It made me reflect again on the reflection and review new situations, equally rich, but for which there could be no page limit. It demanded that I choose. As in everything in life, we must choose, choose a path. This life project, the master's degree, was one of the most important options I took in my life. Because from here now, I have greater responsibility for my actions and non-actions, for my reasoned action, for my daily critical reflection, for my continuous updating of knowledge and for disseminating all my new learning and specialized knowledge in a multidisciplinary team, acting accordingly.
