A society characterized by profound, continuous and global changes, with a strong technological propensity (easily imitable), encourages economic units to see their employees as a central element of innovation and competitiveness. This potential contrasts with the short life cycle of knowledge they hold and which would lead to innovation and change. As a solution, training and lifelong learning in company is one of the strategies adopted. It is in this scenario that Corporate Universities are born and it is in this context of turbulence that they continue their role. From the several scientific views and approaches to study this issue, which may require significant resources, the identification of the characteristics, that allow us to study or compare Corporate Universities, was the theme selected for this investigation. Using a qualitative methodological design in order to enlarge the tiny knowledge about the problem, but with no ambition to make generalizations given the nature of this research and media, we organized data collection and its processing around the literature review, from the analysis of documents to the information published by the selected Corporate Universities including two interviews (one electronic and one in person) with the people responsible for two Portuguese Corporate Universities. From the combination of these elements it was possible to conclude, in the form of a structural framework, which features of Corporate Universities are relevant and thus to provide a tool for future work that enables the study or the comparison of Corporate Universities.
