Nowadays, sustainability is becoming increasingly relevant. This growing relevance and concern has led people to become more alert, attentive and thoughtful with regard to their day-to-day habits and the respective consequences on the environment, society and economy. Legislation has also been shaped by factors of sustainability and so have organizations, not only as a consequence of the law but also out of concern and in order to meet the needs and wishes of consumers. The purpose of this dissertation is to understand the impact that sustainability has on consumer decision and purchasing behaviour. In order to analyse this impact and conclude what can be done so that it is significant, a literature review was made and then a questionnaire to people aged between 18 and 80 years old. With this study it was possible to conclude that, in fact, there is a positive perception of sustainability and most consumers find it important and apply sustainable actions. Still, there is a great part that does not give that much importance due to factors such as price, lack of access to information, transparency and trust. Thus, it is understood that, for sustainability to totally or almost totally impact the consumer behaviour, there are still several factors to be studied and developed.
