Abstract

This report is part of the Master's course in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of Nursing for People in Critical Situation. It intends to demonstrate in a comprehensive and reflective way, the activities developed and the skills acquired during the internships, as well as their relevance in the performance of functions as a Specialist Nurse. This activity was developed in two internships, with a diversity of learning, in the context of a Level III Intensive Care Unit and of a Intervention Radiology Unit. They aimed to achieve the central objective, to develop knowledge and skills of a technical, scientific, ethical and relational nature, in the provision of specialized care to the person in critical situation and their family. In order to improve the provided care, and to contribute to knowledge, a central theme was developed, the use of technology in specialized care, which culminated in the elaboration of a Scoping Review entitled “Impact of Technology in Specialized Care for People in Situation Criticism ”. The person in a critical situation needs increasingly complex nursing care, from the increasing use of technology to rapid interventions, combined with emotions. Technological advances accentuate the complexity of the practice of specialized care, aiming at increasing natural capacities and better satisfying the person's interests and needs. Technological innovation and advances in health have shaped the understanding of today's society, leading to a change in customs, values, language, behaviors and attitudes, as a response and adaptation to this transition process. In short, this report seeks to highlight what was the dynamic and continuous process of skills acquisition, emphasizing that with scientific evidence, it translates into an advanced nursing practice.
