The evidence that trauma has a significant impact on emotional health and will, therefore, influence emotion regulation, selfesteem and risk behaviors is diverse. The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of trauma on emotional health in relation to psychosocial variables, namely emotion regulation, selfesteem and risk behaviors. It had the participation of 62 individuals, mostly female, between 18 and 71 years. The variables under study were evaluated for the following questionnaires: Sociodemographic Questionnaire; Childhood Trauma Questionnaire; Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale; Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale and Health Attitudes and Behaviors Questionnaire. Results showed that participants who were not victims of childhood trauma had a higher average in terms of selfesteem and lower averages in all dimensions of health behaviors and attitudes and difficulties in emotional regulation. Additionally, a statistically significant negative correlation was found between childhood trauma and selfesteem, thus indicating that more traumatic experiences in childhood are related to lower levels of selfesteem. Finally, the lack of emotional awareness proved to be a statistically significant predictor, indicating more risky behaviors. It is necessary to intervene in this population through interventions that are based on reducing the impact caused by these traumatic experiences, specifically on emotional regulation, selfesteem and risk behaviors.
