Abstract

Nowadays, competitiveness between companies is growing. This is due to the fact that costumer needs have been increasing. In response, companies seek to reduce waste and improve processes so that they improve their quality. The lean methodology and inventory management are efficient ways to continuous improvement and sustained growth, allowing companies to build a more sustainable and flowing organizational mindset. The organizational project carried out at Factorum Pele Calçados SA aimed to implement lean thinking tools and analyze its inventory management, in the raw material warehouse. For this, three projects were developed – A training project for employees; Implementation of 5S tools; And application of inventory management processes and Kanban tools. In these projects, tools such as 5S, Kanban, ABC Analysis, Order Point, Quantity to Order were used, which made it possible to draw various types of conclusions from the results obtained. The projects carried out had positive results, it was evident that the tools applied had an immediate effect, and these methodologies were key to create a new mindset, seeking efficiency and improvement for the organization, which allows to inspire other lean tools and more ideas. These may come from top management to the shop floor employee.
