Given the increasing competitiveness in the business landscape, it is essential for organizations to adapt in order to maintain their position in the market. This scenario prompts companies to review their strategies and adopt new working methods, including lean methodology. The dissertation that follows aims to improve the efficiency of activities at the Auchan Retail Portugal store in Famalicão and address the research question regarding the lean implementation in retail. During the author's presence in the store, processes and working methods were analyzed to identify improvement opportunities. Based on the collected information, continuous improvement methodologies were implemented to address the identified problems. The research methodology used, the case study, allowed for an understanding, within the work context and as analyzed, of the processes characterized by flaws and how to improve them. Throughout this investigation, based on what the literature advocates regarding lean methodology and its tools, four improvement projects were devised, describing the initial situation, associated waste, the improvement project, its implementation, and finally, the improvement results. Upon the completion of the improvement projects, it was found that lean methodology brings significant advantages in the retail context, primarily cost and time reduction, waste elimination in the process, and increased employee involvement.
