This present report focuses on the description of the activities carried out during curriculum internship, which took place at Allmicroalgae Natural Products, S.A. This internship was developed as a part of the MSc in Biotechnology and Innovation and its scope was the “Implementation of GMP plus referential in the unit production of microalgae”. Microalgae have great potential in the animal feed sector as an ingredient since they are incorporated into the feed provide benefits, in addition to meeting basic nutritional need and their cultivation is sustainable as they mitigate CO2. Microalgae produced for feed must not pose any danger to human and animal health or the environment, or be susceptible to adversely affect animal production. The implementation of the GMP plus normative referential helps to ensure feed safety and quality in this context. This normative referential emerged in the Netherlands, has as requirements the production of safe feed and is part of the HACCP system.The implementation of the GMP+ normative referential, more specifically of the B2- “Production of feed ingredients” standard at Allmicroalgae, SA has as main objective to make a broad approach to the requirements of production, of facilities and equipment, of personnel, to operational aspects of storage and labeling, providing this way, evolutions and improvements in the technological processes of production of feed ingredients in the unit. It will allow to complement the already existing references, namely, the ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 standards, which add improvements in management and quality of the products and processes in question, but which are not specific enough, being more generic and not as demanding as GMP+. To this end, the activities developed at this stage focused on the reevaluation, reorganization and restructuring of the prerequisite program, the operational prerequisite program, HACCP, among other relevant documents specific to this management system. The future GMP+ feed certification will confirm the internationally recognized quality of Allmicroalagae, S.A and reinforce its corporate identity with the contribution of feed safety, increasing its reputation in the markets, thus involving new sales opportunities.
