In a world of transformations, human beings find themselves immersed in an era of uncertainty, in which technology and instant communications reign, while individual concerns escalate. In this ambiguous scenario, organizations are no exception. We are confronted with a cascade of new challenges, many of which will accompany us in the coming decades. Professional commitment holds a prominent place in this matter, gaining importance due to its relationship with employee retention and its fundamental role in organizational sustainability. Against this backdrop, the present research focused on the insurance sector in Portugal, aiming to understand the active role of emotionally intelligent and positive leadership in the development and maintenance of commitment. Within an interpretive epistemology, employing a qualitative methodology, three interviews were conducted with leaders of the insurance sector, along with two focus groups involving participants from the companies Ageas Portugal Group and Tranquilidade. The results of this investigation corroborate that emotionally driven leadership, particularly emotionally intelligent leadership and positive leadership, can robustly promote commitment and represent a competitive advantage for an organization. The scrutiny and dissemination of the aforementioned findings can serve as an alert as well as suggesting possible approaches to be adopted by current leaders, showcasing practical contributions.
