The presence of a set of signs and symptoms that we call occlusal and temporomandibular disorders is a present reality of our society, so in high performance sports their influence has a considerable impact on the athlete’s performance. It is a challenge for dentists identify and act in the best way to minimize their impact. The importance of acting against cases of occlusal dysfunction is not just about a preventive approach but also a therapeutic approach. It is important to establish a dental occlusion that promotes a stable mio-centric relationship to exert a positive influence in the muscles. The most common signs and symptoms in the population in general is limited mandibular movement, orofacial pain and constant presence of sound during functional activity of the temporomandibular joint.Often, due to lack of information and gaps in training for the dentists associated with weak economic conditions of the patients, rehabilitation is not performed.Concepts involving occlusion, posture and influence in the muscles had a more rapid development in the last twenty years than in the previous four decades. All discoveries that have been made have led to the evolution of theories that provide simpler and more effective therapies. This study builds on the evaluation of the influence of the above mentioned disorders in musculoskeletal injuries in elite athletes framed the first Portuguese league football.A group of thirty-five (35) soccer players of Académica de Coimbra were evaluated in which the variables was studied: Occlusal disorders, Stomatognathic muscular changes, Cervical muscle changes, musculoskeletal injuries and age.The results revealed statistically significant stocks (p <0,05), with respect to the influence of occlusal dysfunctions in the number of musculoskeletal injuries.
