The present report is integrated in the study plan of the course unit “Final Internship and Report” of the Master’s Course in Nursing from the Nursing School (Lisbon), of the Institute of Health Sciences from the Portuguese Catholic University. This highlights the learning results achieved in the context of clinical practice and the adequate level of specific skills developed in the specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of Nursing to the Person in Critical Condition, on the terms regulated by the Nurses’ Order, that is, the aspects considered most important to the learning path in clinical environment (analysing and reflecting on the internship’s paths). The first internship elapsed at an Intensive and Intermediate Care Unit from a hospital in Lisbon and the second at a General Emergency Department from a hospital on the outskirts of Lisbon, this report is elaborated with the perspective of achieving the previously defined goals and document the activities developed over these. At the same time a preliminary analysis of the state of the art about the scientific evidence about nurses integration to the care of people in critical condition is made, mapping the knowledge about the difficulties felt by nurses and the strategies that ease their integrating process through a scoping review. The preliminary results were presented as a poster at a seminary and finally as an article, approved for publishing at a magazine. In the context of clinical practice, the conclusions of the article were disclosed using sessions of awareness and making the poster available in digital format. Recognizing the complex environment of the units that care for people in critical condition and the skills requirements of the professionals that work there, as well as comprehending the difficulties that nurses feel and which strategies to adopt to ease their integration becomes pivotal to aspire to the success of their adaptation to the departments and to long for the continuous improvement of safety and quality in nursing care. The transmission of this knowledge is crucial for the constant improvement and excellence of the professional exercise and its application in the clinical environment constitutes itself as indispensable for the performed internships success and better exploitation of its contribute for my professional exercise through specialist skills development in the care to the person in critical condition.
