The main objective of this study was to evaluate the perception of a group of young people in relation to a cognitive-behavioral intervention program in music performance anxiety (MPA). Five students, aged between 13 and 14, from a music school participated in the study. A CBT manual for MPA was developed, with 12 sessions, from which four sessions were selected to be implemented in this study. The main results revealed that, according to the adolescents' perspective, the intervention sessions allowed them to increase their knowledge about anxiety and learn to control it through the use of alternative thoughts and relaxation techniques. Adolescents also mentioned suggestions for improvements to the program in relation to the functioning of the sessions, the group of participants, the integration of self-regulated learning promotion and titles for the program. These results highlight the importance of both cognitive-behavioral interventions in MPA as well as of an early intervention in this problem. However, some guidelines were considered for future investigations, such as carrying out a pilot study that can implement the 12 CBT sessions, involving parents in the intervention and increasing the literacy of music teachers regarding MPA.
