Adult training is an asset in our profession, the acquisition of specific skills and abilities, allows the Nurse to act autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team, providing quality care. The specialist nurse in medical-surgical nursing, namely in assisting the person and family, both experiencing complex processes of critical illness and/or organ failure, provides care of high scientific, technical and human complexity. For this, it is important that nurses develop their autonomy in the search for new knowledge and the ability to develop skills specific to the contexts they face. This report reflects the path in the internship modules to obtain a master's degree in nursing, with a specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing for the Person in Critical Situation, from the Institute of Health Sciences, of the Portuguese Catholic University of Lisbon. Its objective is to describe the activities carried out in the internship context, in the sense of acquiring specific skills of specialist nurses, these were developed in the context of an emergency operating room and intensive care unit. Carrapiço (2001) goes against this statement by recognizing a report as a document whose purpose is to present the results of a particular project, research or event, presenting itself as a descriptor of activities or facts, promoting reflection and analysis, becoming an integral part of who makes a project. It is in the context of an internship that the student has the possibility of transferring and mobilizing knowledge, in a continuous act, accompanied by a critical reflexive process of all their experiences in clinical practice (Bousso et al, 2000 citando Buriolla, 1995). To guarantee the best provision of nursing care, complying with the recommendations to guarantee quality standards, it is essential that the specialist nurse supports his actions with scientific and investigational tools so that his practice is based on evidence.
