Abstract

This empirical study, entitled "Introduction to the basic techniques in the beginning of the learning of the oboe: a didactic contribution", is inserted in the problematic of the improvement of the pedagogical practices in the teaching of the instrument. Starting from a reflection on the pedagogy of the oboe, it was necessary in my activity as a teacher to carry out a detailed analysis of the pedagogical practices in the introduction of the basic techniques in the beginning of the learning of the oboe. The methodology used for this investigation consisted of an empirical research, of a qualitative nature, centered on a case study. This research was carried out, in a first phase, through the bibliographic review, about the pedagogy of the oboe, in which are described and approached in depth the basic elements of the technique, which should be applied in the first contact with the instrument. The techniques used for the collection and production of date were semi-structured interviews. Seven interviews were conducted with teachers of the discipline of oboe specifically chosen by them, to develop a regular work with students to start the instrument. The method of analysis, treatment and interpretation of the date used in this investigation was the content analysis of the answers. Faced with the analysis of the answers, the teachers refer to breathing, embouchure and posture as essential contents to foster from the beginning of the study in the oboe. Breathing, embouchure and posture are the most difficult basic techniques to explain. In relation to the contents that the students present greater difficulty of assimilation, it is emphasized the breathing, embouchure and articulation. This research allowed a survey of the various pedagogies and theories used in the specificities of learning and teaching the oboe. The methodologies / strategies most used by the teachers interviewed in the introduction of the basic techniques vary between exercises of exemplification, experimentation, observation, imitation and repetition.
