Abstract
This dissertation seeks to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on theproduction and consumption of Revista RUA’s contents, confronting two distinct periods:
three months before (from December 14, 2019 to March 14, 2020) and three months (from
March 15, 2020 to June 2020) after the announcement of the first confinement, in March
2020. To analyze a journalistic production, we resorted to the back office of the magazine's
website (Wordpress), while the readers consumption results were polled with Google
Analytic’s resources and traffic data. From the beginning of the pandemic, there was an
exponential increase in online consumption, as well as an increase in the average time spent
by the users on the website. Among other changes, we also see a greater production and
consumption of articles in the Culture section. These must be framed in a context of
unprecedented health crisis and confinement for the Portuguese population. In this case of
limited case studies within a specific time horizon (six months), it was not possible to
compare results with other national publications, nor to confirm the evolution of such trends.
The research, however, present some avenues for reflection that open the way for other case
studies in a wider period.
