Abstract

Probiotic products have been the focus of attention and research by several authors due to their effectiveness in reducing cholesterol levels, stimulating the immune system and maintaining certain mechanisms that influence mood, cognitive functioning and health in general in a positive way. Kombucha is a probiotic drink that has been reported to be beneficial for mental health, particularly at the level of emotional regulation. This study aimed to understand the perception of the Portuguese and Brazilian population regarding the consumption of probiotics and Kombucha, and the impact of this consumption on emotional regulation. The research was conducted through an online questionnaire and had a total sample of 256 participants. The results showed that there are no statistically significant differences between the consumption of probiotics and Kombucha when comparing the Portuguese and Brazilian samples. With regard to the impact of the consumption of these products on emotional regulation, no statistically significant association was found. This study contributed to increasing the knowledge about the consumption of probiotics and Kombucha and alerted to the importance of this topic.
