Abstract

This study is intended to study the differences between drug addicts in terapeutic community and drug addicts in social reinstatement in relatively to Locus de Controlo de Saúde and of Autoconceito, using a sample of 60 abstinent drug addicts, collected at the Centro de Solidariedade de Braga – Projeto Homem. This is a transversal and inter-subject's study. The instruments used were: the Socio - Demographic Questionnaire to characterize the sample, the scale of the Health Locus of Control (LCS) to assess the locus of control and the Clinical Inventory of Self - Concept (ICAC) to evaluate the self-concept. The results of this study show a positive association between relapse and the internality dimension of the Health Locus of Control, being a very important result. There was no significant difference between groups with respect to the Locus Control Health, however the means for examining the two groups tended to be more internal. Relatively the self-concept, there were differences between groups, and the group of drug addicts in the therapeutic community, present minor social rejection, psychological maturity and self-efficacy and group of social reintegration of drug addicts exhibit higher social rejection, self-efficacy and psychological maturity. Relatively to impulsivity, no significant differences were found between groups.
