Abstract

The present study sought to evaluate the impact of the program for the development of socio-emotional skills through art, called Lugar de Silêncio, developed with high school art students. Through a mixed method, the present investigation included the analysis of the pre- and post-intervention results of the Wong-Law Emotional Intelligence Scale and the Satisfaction Questionnaire with Lugar de Silêncio among the students who participated in the program, along with the analysis of three semi-structured interviews and a focus group carried out with teachers involved in the implementation of Lugar de Silêncio. The quantitative results regarding the differences between pre- and post-intervention were not significant, however, through the satisfaction questionnaire, the students pointed to an improvement in terms of managing their emotions, getting to know the emotions of others better, and to use emotions better. The qualitative results demonstrated a positive perceived impact of the Lugar de Silêncio program on both students and teachers. These results encourage the continued development and improvement of these programs to promote socio-emotional skills.
