Abstract

The present study, entitled Música e Tecnologia: contributos para a disciplina de TIC dos cursos profissionais de ensino especializado da música (Music and Technology: contributions within the ICT subject, of the professional courses of specialized music education at the high school level), is framed within the problematic of teaching and provides reflections on the pedagogical improvement of practice. Thus, the study aims at the elaboration of a state of the art investigation of the ICT subject of professional courses of specialized music education at the high school level, underlying its importance and impact in the students musical training. Additionally, this study intends to achieve a greater depth in the field of the didactics of music education, through the analysis of the musical technology panorama and its application to music training. This research has focused, firstly, in a bibliographic review, centered in the contemporary paradigm of social information and knowledge, and the subsequent impact of technology in areas such as music and education, and also in the assertion of educational technology possibilities in the musical area. Secondly, the research was based in a methodological strategy of a quantitative nature, namely the questionnaire survey. Two questionnaires were developed and applied to active ICT teachers of musical professional courses, and to former students of the Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave (ARTAVE). The final samples consisted in six ICT teachers and sixty former students. The techniques used for collecting and producing data were statistical analysis (through the SPSS Statistics (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences application) and content analysis of the answers to the questionnaires. The results obtained from the starting point question: Does the ICT subject contributes to the students musical training? allow the conclusion that the ICT subject contributes effectively to the students musical training, specially in virtues of its application to music technology programs.
