Abstract

The evolution of the social economy and the non profit organizations in Portugal is noticeable and growing, with more importance and power in the economy and the portuguese society. Faces several daily challenges in the level of current management as in the sustainability, highlighting these challenges in the necessary fundraising of the (human and financial) resources. The relationship with the diferent stackeholders is more and more demanding, this way the transparency in the accountability is a fundamental element for the financiers, contributores and for the society in general. The information about the financial situation and performance of these organizations are determined in order to obtain donations and maintenance of the sustainability. The Fundraising assume a prominent role, constituting up a ‘tool’ of important growth for inflows of donations and other funding. The present dissertation has as aim to understand the relation between Fundraising and Accountability and the impact in the donations received by the non profit organizations. The case study were analyzed nonprofit organizations: AMI, OIKOS and Leigos for the development in order to remove the conclusions about the issue. Through the results obtained it was possible to identify which practices were carried out by NPO and it’s reflections in donations. It was concluded that the relationship between Fundraising and Accountability is a complementary relation and that more transparency leads to more donations.
