This thesis seeks to clarify the progress conducted in the acquisition and development of skills in the area of specialization of medical-surgical nursing, proposed by the course program and that lead to the creation of the internship course projects. This reflexive critical analysis is based on the experiences lived In the context of the internship , inside an intensive care unit , a central emergency service unit and a continuous and palliative care, in different hospitals in the region of Lisbon. This study was adapted and covered all contexts of clinical practice of the internship, and was written aiming at developing relational, ethical, technical, scientific and communicational skills at providing expert care to the person and his family. Promoting measures of comfort to the family of the person in the dying process in the hospital context, is related to the transversal focus, which go along with all this problematic, as well as to the understanding of the meaning they bring to the comfort and the strategy measures understood as comforting.. It was on this base that it became necessary to carry out an integrative literature review, in order to answer the investigation question: what are the promoting measures of comfort to the family in the dying process in the hospital context? The impaired communication was a nursing diagnosis upraised in one of the internships and from which came the need to develop an adapted tool that makes communication easier to the person under the invasive mechanical ventilation. In another context in practice care, the situation was examined. Regarding the circuit of the drug in the safety of the patient, it was necessary to conduct a norm procedure for the identification of the person drug anaphylactic reactions. Finally, in terms of symptom control, we increased the nurses awareness on the prevention of mucositis and provided a notification document sheet about the same topic, aiming at an improvement of the quality care. The methodology used for the conception of this research is based on a descriptive, reflective and introspective analysis of witnessed experiences within the development of expertise competencies, suitable to the clinical practice in the area of medical-surgical nursing, on the basis the premises defended by Katharine Kolcaba and Patricia Pontífice Sousa with their Comfort Theories and the theory of transition of Afaf Meleis.
