Student thesis: Master's Thesis

Abstract

The literature on good practices in the reception of refugees has emphasized the role of combating social isolation, due to the importance of establishing a network of interpersonal relationships for psychological well-being and a sense of belonging and inclusion – essential dimensions to well-integration. in the host country (Spencer, 2006; Beirens et al. 2007; Craig,2015). It was with the aim of promoting these social support networks that the APROXIMA project of the MEERU Association was born. This dissertation aims to contribute to the assessment of the impact of this project, seeking to give voice to the testimonies of the first generation of volunteers who have gone through it, and aiming to contribute to the identification of good practices and suggestions for improvement, either from the point of view of welcoming refugees, or from the point of view of the specific model of action of MEERU Aproxima.
