This research aimed to the analysis and understanding of the motivational levels of students in concluding years of Vocational Music School of Viana do Castelo. Motivation is a topic studied in learning and is increasingly valued. In teaching music it is also a theme that can exert influence far, as playing a musical instrument is a very demanding activity. In this research, the main objective was to investigate the level of student motivation for the years of academic completion, ie 9th grade / 3rd Basic Course Instrument and 12th grade / 3rd Instrumentalists Course and String of Vocational Music School of Viana do Castelo. The study was based on a case study as a methodological design, and after using the questionnaire survey technique, we proceeded to a quantitative analysis. Through a survey, directed to investigate the motivation of instrument students, the survey was conducted on 30 students of 9th grade / 3ºCBI and 28 students of the 12th grade / 3rd CICT / CISP. Data analysis was made from the student profile, the relationship student / instrument and finally the relationship student / school and teacher. The reason I chose these particular years of schooling to achieve my study was based from the dropouts reasons in the study of music / Instrument these same levels of education, also trying to discern the reasons that takes some students to demotivation.
