Abstract

The study that supports this work is essentially an analysis and subsequent reflection on the program and on the methodologies used in the Second Chance School of Matosinhos. The intervention program of the school and their different methodologies is intended to be an offer certification and orientation training for a group of students with problems of school failure and social integration which find no substantive response in mainstream education. Without alternatives this group is put at risk of social exclusion. A program that intends to offer these alternatives - in fulfillment of a formation - allows them a basic certification and an inclusion in their professional and civic life. This exploratory study was structured in an attitude of an investigative reflection that seeks to understand whether this project is an effective educational response to the re-measurement of dropout and an asset to the capital gain to the labor market. This study, supported in an attitude of investigative reflection and from a case study, analyzes the pedagogical practices that seek different alternative ways (methodologies). And it analyzes its achievement and how the expected trajectory of life for students without school formation may. Because of the amount of this project and the ethical principles of inclusive schooling and education, this work will focus their reflection on issues and problems of a school for everyone. Starting from the literature that support this reflection and data collected and pedagogical experience lived by the author referenced in school, this research seeks to gauge if this project is an intervention and a consistent response to the problem of school failure. And it researches programs of action and social reintegration, integration of youth out of the educational offerings available through the network of public schools.
