Analyzing the life trajectories of foreign inmates in Portuguese prisons, this study intends to contribute to the understanding of this phenomenon in Portugal. This study analyzes the approaches to female criminality, putting emphasis on incarceration, gender and nationality. The methodology involved in conducting and analyzing semi-structured interviews to 41 foreign women held in Portugal. After analysis of the narratives of these women, is made an interpretation of the data collected from them. The results show no significant differences in the discourse of inmates compared between gender and nationality, or nationality does not allow to observe differences in relation to positive and negative moments in their lives.
