Abstract

Visual language is a privileged form of expression, representation of reality and construction of thinking. Besides being considered a powerful means of expression and communication, the image is also an icon, a representation of men, nature and the invisible. This way, the education for the understanding and creation of the image is essential in the present social and cultural contexts. The purpose of the present report is to demonstrate in which way the different forms of art, together with literature, may contribute to a better artistic education grounded in the potentiation of curiosity, interest, participation, developing the critical sense and improving communication among students, in and outside the classroom. Through the analysis of selected images, a debate of ideas with moments of reflection was proposed, with the confrontation of opinions, related to the various works produced in class, both individually and in group context. This study intends to make students acquire training in the area of Visual Arts, furthermore, it intends to make them recognise the historical trajectory with Visual Culture, relating it to the theme “Visual Narratives a Way of Communicating”, as an educational resource in Visual Arts teaching.
