Abstract
The purpose of the thesis is to present a new viewpoint on Christmas, based on the conception of godsend. Christmas is a topic of Catholic Moral and Religious Education (EMRC) curriculum for 5th graders. That way, the beginning of the report refers to the experience in Supervised Teaching Practice (PES), presenting a brief reflection, the plans and strategies to teach Unit 2 – Advent and Christmas. Then, there is an anthropological approach to the conception of gift, according to the sociologists Marcel Mauss, Jacques Godbout, Alain Caillé and the anthropologist Maurice Godelier. There is also an approach to see how these conceptions match with the nature of Christmas itself and the way this feast is socially, culturally and religiously celebrated. At last, there are some teaching tips for Unit 2.
This report not only provides reflection and teaching practice evaluation, but also sets a learning tool as it presents a new reading approach to Christmas in Religious Education classes.
