Necessidades da família da pessoa em situação crítica em unidade de cuidados intensivos

Abstract

Inserted in the Master's Course in Nursing, in the area of Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in Nursing for Persons in Critical Situation, taught at the Portuguese Catholic University, Institute of Health Sciences, School of Nursing, this internship report appears to share the results of the research carried out as well as to report, justify and analyze in a critical and reflective way the development of common competences of the Specialist Nurse and specific skills of the Specialist Nurse in Medical Surgical – Person in Critical Situation. Throughout the document, moments of development of personal and professional skills will be present within the scope of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where I have been working since the beginning of my professional career, and within the scope of the internship carried out in the Emergency Department. During this training process, I had the opportunity to develop skills in approaching people at risk of organic failure, unstable; promote a practice allied to scientific knowledge; as well as an ethical and deontological professional practice, always taking into account good communication and a strong therapeutic relationship, developed with the person in critical situation and his family. An Information Bulletin was also prepared about the activation signals of the Via Verde in Cerebral Vascular Accident and a Rule of Procedure: Correction of Hyperkalemia with Intravenous Insulin. The research presented in this report seeks to understand the needs of the families we contact in the Intensive Care Unit, in order to achieve a specialized Nursing practice in intervening with the families of the patients to whom we provide care, involving them in the provision of the same. This research work is subsidiary to the development of master skills.
