The Net neutrality debate is closely tied to the telecommunication industry. It has the power to reshape and redefine the open Internet and partially the entire industry. The thesis conducted a research on to the European Net Neutrality Debate. Existing studies in this field have focused primarily on technological requirements, economic analysis, or regulatory justifications. However this research tries to investigate, if the current European regulations are protecting and considering the telecommunication industry enough in their laws. The industry is facing dramatic changes and new developments, which indirect could weaken or strengthen their position on the debate. New investments in high-speed networks, the implementation and research of the new mobile generation -5G and revenue losses, due to the disruptive technology offered by the OTT, the telecom industry is facing pressure. New players are competing and forcing the telecommunication industry to reinvent itself. However is the European regulator is taking partially notice of those changes and provides in some areas financial and legal support.
