Abstract

The realization of the Master in Nursing with Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing, has as main objective to acquire skills for advanced nursing care to adult or elderly patient with severe disease and in critical condition. According to the study plan were performed three training modules. This report was developed based on the descriptive/reflective method and aims to accurately exposing the performed activities, the subjects that were reviewed through bibliographic reaserch, reflection about the actions taken during the probationary period and the skills have resulted of this learning process and also get a master's degree in Nursing with Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing. The internship was held in three locations, the module I held at the Emergency Service of the Centro Hospitalar de São João (CHSJ), followed by the module III Prehospital Care elapsed in the National Institute of Medical Emergency and finally the module II which was held in General Polyvalent Intensive Care Unit of the CHSJ. The selection of locations was motivated by the fact that often the circuit used by the critically ill patient is firstly be approached in pre-hospital environment being forwarded to the emergency department and later admitted in an intensive care unit. Concerning the pre-hospital care there are some difficulties in regard to performance and practical decisions on the ground, but is certainly important role since it allows the detection, treatment and early forwarding complex situations thereby avoiding complications. In the Emergency Service i had contacted with urgent/emergent cases in which it was necessary to identify problems in a timely and prioritize nursing actions. The General Polyvalent Intensive Care Unit is a place of high complexity due to a different technologies that are used as well the close surveillance and continued monitoring the critical patient needs. The Professional apprenticeships emerge from the different situations/problems, identified over the three stages, culminating into the development of a brochure about "Isolation Measures - Major Transmission Pathways" on the module I, execution of work "Prehospital Care to Pediatric Victims" and the flyer "Gait of Urgency - How to proceed” in the module III and regarding the traineeship module II the achievement of a work entitled "Importance of the Glycemic Control in Intensive Care". The development of these subjects, demonstrates that the Nurse Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing should play an active role in order to cooperate in establishing of best practices, giving its contribution to improving the quality and efficiency of care.
