Abstract

This report comes within the scope of the Master's Course in Medical-Surgical Nursing- Person in Critical Situation, and aims to make known the path taken to acquire Specialist Nurse and Master's skills in that area.This report integrates two major themes. The first concerns the research component,competence attributed to the holder of a master's degree where, through a Scoping Review,I tried to map the applicability of the nursing workload evaluation index Nursing Activities Score in the context of nursing team management in the Intensive Care Unit. The second theme presented seeks to mirror the path of acquisition and development of specialized skills, through a critical and reflective analysis of the learning process and the development of scientific, technical, ethical and relational skills, in the specialized care of the Person in Critical Situation and their Family, in two different contexts: Emergency Service and Intensive Care Unit. These two contexts, although distinct, complement each other as privileged services in the care of the Person in Critical Situation and Family, where the Specialist Nurse plays an important and single role.The continuous improvement of care provided to the patient, with quality and safety,supported by evidence-based practice, should be the focus of specialized care. The Specialist Nurse holds the necessary skills to provide highly qualified care to the Person in Critical Situation and Family, mobilizing knowledge and skills to respond in a timely and holistic way to their needs.In this way, I intend that this report reflects my process of acquiring and developing skills towards specialized care, where it is essential to invest in differentiated knowledge and in individualized, reflected and holistic nursing care.
