Abstract

This dissertation intends to highlight the impact that the surrounding officeenvironments have on workers, which can have reflexes on the levels of satisfaction and productivity and so on the success of organizations, trying in this way also to discover which aspects should be taken into account on the design of the workspaces.The office is a space where people spend most of their days, so it must be a placewith strong motivational power achieving a good performance. Working with themotivation and well-being of professionals, will have an impact on the satisfaction and, consequently, on the performance of the organizacions.From an empirical point of view, we will follow this theme based on the case study of Cisco Portugal, a company that won several awards related to the satisfaction of its employees, their health and well-being. In order to assess the levels of employee satisfaction at the Cisco Portugal company, was used a specific survey named as “Job Satisfaction Survey”, developed by Paul E. Spector (1985). To assess the premises of satisfaction with the company's space, an interview was also attained with the CEO of Cisco Portugal, Miguel Almeida. The study pretends to clarify the importance of physical facilities, for thefunctioning of the organization, with a focus on the well-being, satisfaction andproductivity of professionals and also how it can influence the organization to succeed or fail.
