Abstract

This paper intends to showcase the relation between the populist tradition of Brazil and the sphere of underdevelopment in Latin America, taking into account the socio-political characteristics of the region. Therefore, the main theoretical concepts about the subject will be investigated, with populism and the underdevelopment of Brazil and the continent the main stand out in the research. Additionally, the social aspects that justify the popular and democratic choice of populist leaders are also deeply investigated. Historical documents and a vast bibliography on the subject will be researched. The main concepts of political science related to the analysed subject will also configure in the course of the paper. Finally, the identification of the factors that keep populism alive and active in Latin American space, with a focus on the Brazilian case, will be the main achiavable goal, being the focus of this academic work.
