Abstract

This report comes after completing the internships of the Final Internship and Report, in the contexts of intensive care, operating room and emergency department. The report aims to illustrate the path taken during these stages, using a descriptive methodology. This document demonstrates a clear and reasoned reflection on the activities carried out, as well as the skills of the Specialist Nurse that were developed and that allowed the acquisition of evidence-based practice, leading to the provision of specialized care to the patient in a critical situation. , based on the Regulation of the specific competences of the Specialist Nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of nursing specialization for the person in a critical situation, as a means of obtaining the Master's Degree in Nursing with Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing. There were many learning and development of specialized scientific, technical, relational and ethical skills in the care of the person and family in a critical situation, with multiorgan failure, in communication with the patient and family in complex situations, as well as between the multidisciplinary teams of each context where I was an intern, having learned about the management of urgent and emerging unforeseen situations, in the application of protocols and in the management and control of pain. As contributions throughout these internship contexts, it was translated into the elaboration and presentation of the poster: comfort in transition processes in the family in a critical situation: scoping review, published in the X National Nursing Conferences and VIII International Nursing Conferences of the Institute of Sciences of Health of the Portuguese Catholic University entitled “The value of a Nursing with values” which took place on June 9, 2021 awarded with the first prize, and in the publication of a research article entitled Comfort in processes of transition in the family in critical situation: scoping review. Although my internship journey took place during the Covid-19 pandemic, the proximity to the family of the patient in a critical situation became an added difficulty, but it was in the hope of continuous improvement of care that I deposited my internship projects, ensuring the quality of comfort in the care provided by nurses.
