Abstract

This dissertation with the theme "The Contribution of Orchestra Discipline for the Students Holistic Development in the Specialized Music Education" is a quantitative and qualitative investigation focusing on a case study, applying the methodological strategy of a comparative and exploratory method with the total duration of ten months. This work aimed to compare the repertoire and the pedagogical method used by teachers in the discipline of orchestra of the basic course of the professional schools of music in order to confirm its importance for the development and training of students. This research was conducted using as subjects teachers who teach this discipline in vocational schools of music, or leading as conductors the orchestral courses, held by these same schools. The techniques used for the data collection were questionnaires, an informative letter, and the technical documentation and observation. The analysis and interpretation of data were conducted by measuring, comparison and content analysis of the answers given. At the end of the research the objectives have been achieved, answers for the research questions have been found, being confirmed the importance of the discipline of orchestra for the overall development and training of students, whether in its personal dimension or in the social and artistic dimension.
