Abstract
The preservation of natural, cultural, or built heritage is essential in shaping the identity of territories, considering it is one of the most attractive resources in the process of tourism development, especially in low-density destinations. Tourism has been a driving force for economic and social development in regions, especially through the offering of tourist products—a significant element in communicating the history and identity of these territories. The Jewish Heritage represents a national heritage at different moments in history, serving as an example of preservation of a community’s identity and contributing to tourism development. This study aims to address questions related to tourism preservation and the consequent importance of tourist products. To achieve these objectives, a research model based on document review, primary and secondary data collection, non-face-to-face surveys, and structured and semi-structured interviews with experts and destination managers was applied. The study identified existing resources related to Jewish Heritage within the territory and highlighted the need for better planning, strategy, and tourism development in promoting the region.| Date of Award | 26 Sept 2024 |
