O controlo de gestão da ADIRA

Abstract

This final and conclusive project of the Masters Degree will provide a theoretical analysis on management control, following its due description, analysis and identification of process improvement opportunities in ADIRA - Metal Foaming Solutions, S.A. This company was selected for my 6-months curricular internship included in the Masters Degree on Management. ADIRA has, according to my own internship experience and other employees and former employees, management control issues that could be improved in order to increase its efficiency. Therefore, it was possible to identify some employees lacking a proper follow up, motivation and with their own limitations. Changes in the Board of Administration may have been the cause of such issues, since many internal procedures suffered from misguided alterations having never been properly adapted. During this identification, a description of ADIRA's strategic cycle was also made, in which all internal phases are included. Once a thorough analysis on how the company acted on these issues was completed, some process improvement opportunities were noticed, particularly regarding the company's alignment with its strategy. This is an issue whose failure may result in a deficient execution of the strategy, which may end up in a different result from the initially expected result. ADIRA can, in my opinion, create a strategy management office in charge of coordinating all strategy-related activities as well as developing tools, specifically strategic maps, a Balanced Scorecard and a STRATEX. These tools can provide a great number of advantages for ADIRA, specifically a strategy simplification and translation, improvements on communication, strategy alignment, planning, resource allocation and feedback development, as well as promoting strategy learning. These tools may solve management control issues on the company and improve the company's performance.
