The presente report is included on a Master study plan in Nursing, Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing, lectured by Instituto de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Católica Portuguesa. This work appears as an illustrative document of the knowledge acquired during the training performed on the following services: Polyvalent Intensive Care, Permanent Care Unit and Palliative Care Unit in Hospital da Luz. The preparation of this report is not only a description of activities, but above all provided a reflection, evaluation and registration of a whole training process that culminated in the acquisition of new skills through clinical practice always accompanied by further training. Stage I was conducted at the Polyvalent Intensive Care. It enabled me with the understanding of the dynamics of care to critically ill patients in different areas, in particular when regarding the area of invasive and noninvasive ventilation, as well as the comfort of hospitalized patients in such units. After assessing the needs of the unit, i conducted a training on noninvasive ventilation which resulted in a mentor guide that remained in the unit to be visualized by the whole team when necessary. The module corresponding to Stage II took place on a Permanent Care Unit. I was able to contact with the different areas of emergency, which allowed me to mobilize / acquire knowledge and skills in the areas of screening, observation room, the resuscitation room, treatment room and minor surgery room. I really wanted to leave my contribuit in this unit regarding patients confort, so i conducted an exploratory study on the perceptions of patients on confort and all it’s dimensions. The Stage on the optional module, Module III, took place at the Palliative Care Unit. Here i decided to invest in the confort of end of life patients, so i developed a study case by interviewing a palliative patient and her husband regarding the confort issue acoording to Kolcaba’s theory. To successfully complete this course was crucial to follow a way of research provide evidence-based care in a systematic and intencional manner adding value to previously acquired kmowledge. Like many other nurses, i feel, more than ever, the need to reflect on my daily practice and on the comforting attention I should provide to the patients so that they can achieve the highest level of wellness possible. This was my biggest challenge over the past few months
