Abstract

This report is intended to describe and analyze the development and improvement of skills and activities acquired and developed as a specialist nurse during internships. Internships that took place in a Permanent Service of a Private Hospital in Lisbon and in an Intensive Care and Recovery Unit of a Hospital in Lisbon. The postgraduate training in nursing assumes an extremely important role in the construction and development of nurses and in the consequent provision of quality care, optimizing the combination of knowledge with the development and certification of scientific, technical, ethical and relational competences. For the design of this document, the methodology used was based on a descriptive and reflective analysis of the experiences experienced in the context of the development of specialized competencies, appropriate to clinical practice, in the area of Medical-Surgical Nursing, based on the assumptions defended by Katharine Kolcaba's Theories of Comfort and Afaf Meleis' Transition Theory. Comfort was the transverse axis that was underlying the stage sites. Not only in promoting the comfort of the patient, in its holistic aspect, but also of the nursing student and nurse, sensitizing the team to the theme of Burnout syndrome. A Scoping Review was conducted with the purpose of mapping the existing scientific evidence regarding risk factors as well as possible strategies to prevent Burnout syndrome in nursing students. This is an extremely important issue, considering that this syndrome has been increasing among this population and may compromise the future of students as well as the profession itself, since today's students are the nurses of tomorrow.
