This report is part of the "Final Internship and Report" curricular unit of the Master's Degree in Nursing with Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of Critical Care Nursing - 16th Edition, from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. The aim of this report is to carry out a reasoned analysis of the skills inherent to the specialist nurse in medical-surgical nursing in the area of nursing the critically ill person developed in the internship contexts, through the fulfillment of objectives and activities previously defined for the internship, and as a method of evaluating the curricular unit for the subsequent award of the title of specialist nurse in medical-surgical nursing in the area of critical care nursing and master in nursing. Following a descriptive and critical-reflective methodology, this report is structured into 5 chapters, which reflect the continuous development of skills in the internships such intensive care unit, emergency service and UL-PPCIRA. In addition to the rich moments of contact with the person in a critical situation and intervention in terms of infection prevention and control, the moments of self-reflection, observation and reflection with peers were also extremely important for my growth and the consolidation of behaviors and knowledge that enabled me to acquire specialized care skills. The specialist nurse must then differentiate themselves by their high performance in providing differentiated care, integrating knowledge based on scientific evidence, with an effective and efficient leadership and management attitude, demonstrating to their peers their technical, critical and reflective capacity in the provision of care, aiming for safety and quality. These skills, acquired and enhanced through the internships, allowed them to maximize the design and provision of holistic, specialized and highly differentiated care.
