Abstract

This report aims to give visibility to the skills which were developed by me on stage and was carried out under the 3rd Master's Degree with specialization in Medical- Surgical Nursing, Institute of Health Sciences, Porto, Portuguese Catholic University.The internship was achieved at the Emergency Hospital Center East Ave Unit Famalicão in Polyvalent Intensive Care Unit, Hospital of St. John and in the Integrated Emergency Medicine (INEM), Delegation of the North, from April 19th 2010 to January 29th 2011.The Report describes the activities implemented and the strategies used during the stagein order to demonstrate the technical, scientific and human acquired or developed inproviding care to the patient and family, experiencing disease processes. The acquisitionof skills to be sued in clinical practice and reflective, whilst every care has been basedon advanced nursing practice. The methodology for the implementation of this document is descriptive and analytical through reflection and description of the different activities carried out in internship supported by the integration of knowledge mobilized by consulting references and author of recognized merit in the context of overall health and nursing particular. The structure comprises three parts which consist ofintroduction, development and completion of work, considering this to be better clarifies what is intended to highlight.As holder of the title of specialist nurse in this report is then described my journey instages, with achievement of the objectives, demonstrating the knowledge and skillsspecific to them.Gave particular attention to developing skills related to communication, management ofcritical patient care, victim of sudden illness or loss of life and family in crisis situationsand also to preserve life and organ donation as a means of prolonging life of recipients. As a contribution to the contexts of practice, having identified the needs or solveproblems with training, planning, implementing and evaluating training activities, inview of my professional experience related to renal failure, dialysis and techniquesassociated with infections health care, always with the aim of improving the quality ofnursing care.
