Abstract

The vocal technique and vocal warm-up in choral practice have been developed by several authors such as Coelho (1994), Gumm (2009), Phillips (1992), Miller (1996) and Heizmann (2003) among others for better vocal development for choral practice.The present study on the theme and the importance of vocal warm-up in choral practice, knowledge of vocal physiology, voice change at ages in school context, as well as the establishment of a vocal technique through vocal warm-up exercises lead to evolution and improvement of the vocal health of each choir.The methodology used was to conduct a case study, through direct observation, in a group of Vocal Class from the 4th Grade of articulated teaching in the Music Academy Fernandes Fão, and were used technical exercises and vocal warm-up strategies in orderto improve the difficulties noticed.The methodological procedures to be considered are based on the basic principles of vocal production in choral singing and the fundamental elements of the voice. This study intends to demonstrate the importance of vocal warm-up and vocal technique inschool context and how it can improve the performance of a choir.A case study was carried out through the analysis and direct observation and exercises used for the best evolution of the piece chosen "The Christmas of Sleeping Angel", aswell as in the technical exercises and strategies of teaching and vocal practice taken into consideration in order to determine the best performance of the work.The study identified the main factors that influence the creation of the best performance of this piece, constituting an exercise process for the construction of several elements and properties such as voice, musicality and other concepts, molded and readjusted by the teacher.
