Abstract

The teaching of grammar is one of the fundamental bases for learning any foreign language. In the case of Chinese students in Macau, acquiring grammatical structures can be even more challenging due to significant differences between Chinese and Portuguese grammar. Therefore, it's essential to carry out grammar teaching progressively and integratedly to effectively develop students' grammatical competence. This report aims to present a more productive and humanized approach to teaching some grammatical structures to Chinese students in Macau. By implementing Larsen Freeman's ThreeDimensional Grammar Framework, the trainee teacher aimed to progressively develop students' grammatical competence, allowing grammar teaching to occur in a natural and sequenced manner. The report presents the results of the pedagogical practice in relation to the strategy adopted in observed classes, which was well received by students. They demonstrated interest and curiosity in learning more about the grammar of the Portuguese language and applying the acquired knowledge in practical situations. Therefore, this report hopes to contribute to the development of a more significant and integrated approach to grammar teaching for Chinese students in Macau.
