The subject of this dissertation is Space School and Teaching Methods Active. It's looking for a relationship between the school and the influences that this can have on teaching methodologies and therefore the motivation of students. Given a theoretical framework addressing the concepts related to the school and the child, active pedagogy and their methodologies and the evolution of Portuguese school from its beginnings until the present day, drafted research questions and objectives. To address the issues raised is applied a methodological framework developed through an empirical study and based on qualitative research and case study method. To this end, we conducted interviews and questionnaires to three groups: primary school teachers and a director of a private school, parents and students at this establishment. The results point to an increase in well-being provided by changes in the physical space, a slight change facilitated by new methodological characteristics of classrooms, new equipment and furniture. The group work was one of the more methodological changes experienced by students who favored an increase in motivation. We conclude that the remodeling of the school influenced teachers to change their methods making them more active. However, they still do not know how to do it or are afraid to do. Students are even more motivated to work in groups, talking and sharing knowledge.
