The process of organizational change is increasingly influenced by the leader, who plays an important role in building spaces in the organization in order to facilitate discussions and group questioning. The great advantage of an Economy of Communion (EoC) is that it privileges the management of interpersonal and institutional relations, in which, and according to the specifics of each market, the role exerted by the leader has a deep impact in organizational culture. Therefore this disseration (TFM) intends to analyze the role of the executive as both a cultivator and a transmitter of values in an EoC. More precisely, we intend to identify which features should be inherent to a modern leader and whether these are highlighted and observable in the leader dynamics. With this in mind an approach was divised that addressed not only the current theoretical framework of the EoC model with particular focus on the portuguese reality, as well as the fundamental characteristics inherent to the leader of these organizations; but also field research was conducted with the intent to identify and validate the theoretical foundations presented. In that sense, the case study of the EoC - Faria & Irmão, Lda. is presented, with the help from several data collection techniques employed, such as, a structured interview, observation and a documentary survey (reporting testimony). Based on the case study analyzed and the various evidence found, such as: more humane relations, training, personal empowerment, trust, inclusive and participating family environment (characteristics that foster motivation and creativity, and presume a conscient awareness of a "new man"), it seems that the theorized characteristics that are implicit to emotionally free leaders where Being is as important, if not more, as Doing, are fully recognized in the leaders of Faria & Irmão, thus supporting the theoretical foundations of this work. That is, where the EoC is experienced in all its facets - under the principle of the centrality of man, as proposed by Chiara - it is possible to develop a Culture of giving (New man. Gift. Reciprocity. Solidarity) and Leadership (Consciousness. Spirituality. Abundance).
